3 days of design: A Solo Exhibition with Stinne
Exploring nature and form at the design festival
On June 20th, Stinne welcomed guests to her solo exhibition Gardening at the House of Finn Juhl during 3 days of design. The event offered a quiet space for reflection, where visitors explored the final part of her trilogy over a glass of natural wine.
Gardening: The Final Chapter in the Trilogy
Stinne’s work Gardening marks the final chapter in a trilogy of exhibitions, which explores the alienation she senses in the digital age and how technology both connects and distances us, not just from nature, but also from ourselves.
During the event, Stinne shared some of her thoughts behind the work:
"Sometimes a body of work takes shape on its own, and only afterward do you start to understand what it wanted to say to the world. Gardening is about contrasts—about refinement and control, but also beauty and decay."
She described the bonsai tree as a symbol of this duality:
“One movement is about patient precision, the other about taking something away from its origin—forcing it into a controlled form when it could otherwise grow wild and free.”
With Gardening, Stinne explains “We instrumentalize nature, trying to make it our possession,” she said. “But in the end, life becomes beautiful when we let it unfold. When we don’t try to control everything - just like with art.”
Sculptural Mugs
For this year’s design festival, we also created a small number of unique ceramic pieces at TYBO that step outside our usual palette. The result of curiosity, creative play, and a little courage. Each one-of-a-kind piece explores sculptural variations in the handles of cups and mugs. We let our creativity guide the process and let the unexpected speak. Shown together, they formed a sculptural installation displayed at our boutique on Sankelmarksgade.
Stinne explains: "Among the pieces is one that particularly struck a special balance for us - the perfect cup for cappuccino in our opinion. With its generous shape and thoughtful proportions, we have decided to include this in our permanent collection. We’re still working on what to name the cup - but maybe someone dear will inspire it."
The prototype will go into production later this year and will be available for purchase soon.
